So just how big is the Fallout 76 Map? Here's our best estimates compared to other games

If you haven't heard something about Bethssda's upcoming online survival RPG, Fallout 76, please go treat yourself to their E3 presentation on YouTube. Once you are nice and excited come back here with us and let's talk a bit about how big a map "4 Times the size of Fallout 4" really is and how that compares to some other large maps in gaming.

First off it is important to note that a specific map size has not been confirmed by Bethesda yet, only that it is over 4 times larger than Fallout 4's map pictured below.

This map was about 3.5 Square miles. This means we should expect a map size of atleast 14 Square miles of West Virginian Wilderness for Fallout 76. Bethesda confirmed in an interview this past week that this map will contain somewhere between 24 and 32 players on each server. While this number is subject to change as the release approaches, we think that sounds like a great fit for keeping player encounters rare but not impossible. The full map has not been released to the public as of yet but a fan created map by u/Chiyuiri by combining all sources of official info so far can be found on Reddit here.

Here is that user created map in all of its glory

So that sounds pretty big right? But just how large is 14 square miles by a video game standard? Some iconic "large" maps for currently popular games include Fortnite Battle Royale's map being just under 1 square mile pictured below.

Some other noteworthy benchmarks of map size include:

PUBG's Erangel: 6.9 Square Miles

Skyrim: 14.3 Square Miles

GTA V: 49 Square Miles

Luckily we wont have to wait too long to see just how Fallout 76's map size feels as the game will be releasing on November 14th 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One; with a Beta also coming sometime before then.
